Transitioning: Screen Wipe

Image
A key transition (a wipe transition from right to left) is used to transition three frames in our motion graphic. While adding the the 'wipe' transition we realised that this wasn't as smooth as we would have liked. We couldn't work out as to why this transition was lagging. Adding effects such as, 'Ease In, Ease Out' helped somewhat however this didn't solve the problem completely. Anja set the Motion Blur Switch for the image and tried speeding up the transition where we found out that the optimal duration was 1.5 seconds.

Motion Graphic: Aspect Ratio

Image
After checking the brief, in the specification it mentions that our aspect ratio needed to be 4:5 with a minimum of 600px width. When looking at the Aspect Ratio guide we saw that this size was optimal for both Facebook and Instagram. This was also mentioned when using the creative hub to create a MockUp of our ad. Therefore we decided that our canvas would have a 1280px width and 1600px height (4:5 aspect ratio) which met the brief specifications. When using After Affects there wasn't a pre-set option that allowed you to select the aspect ratio to 4:5 and therefore had to calculate the pixel height width within the requirements of a 600px minimum width.

Storyboard: Feedback from Ocado

Image
We discussed our storyboard and concept with Ocado. They liked our idea and liked the family and cultural aspect of our motion graphic. They suggested keeping our animations simple. We assured them we would stick to this minimalistic style adding less detail to certain frames and perhaps crop the starting scenes so that the legs wouldn't be shown. They also suggested to have less emphasis on the technology in our storyboard (computer screen and checkout button frames) and focus more on the emotional aspect of our story so that individuals watching our advert would be left with a smile. They also mentioned that we had used a good example of juxtaposition as we had included traditional family values and dishes compared with the modern aspect of technology.
