Ocado Live Brief: Sketches for Animation

Image
Anja and I wanted to focus more on a minimalistic cartoony drawing style and therefore I drew a some images in a number of different styles. We agreed that the Rick and Morty inspired style would be the best for our animation and I therefore attempted to draw a scene from our storyboard using this style.

Ocado Live Brief: Researching different Motion Graphic styles

Image
I decided to research motion graphic styles to gain an idea of what we want our motion graphic to look like. We are aiming to create a basic minimalistic style as this be relatable to Mum's with children. I came across this motion graphic which I found really interesting as it is quite a complex motion graphic. It's very exciting and bold which I believe would appeal more to young people than middle aged individuals. This motion graphic was clearly made using Adobe After Effects and uses real life images and animations which is a mixture of two different styles. I watched this motion graphic which was crazy! This graphic was very complex and the sound matched the animation well! I really liked the creators use of colour and transitioning and psychedelia patterns. I'm not sure what program this was made in however something similar could have been made using After Effects. This motion graphic was created using After Effects to advertise a holiday agency. I

ACE Presentation Preparation: Final Packaging Design

Image
This was my first attempt at creating the packaging for the instant coffee range. My concept included using solid shapes and bright bold colours which is commonly used in abstract urban art. The shapes were meant to represent a night scene and the rectangles were meant to represent tall buildings as urban individuals commonly live in busy cities. The circles represented the moon and stars in the scene. The colours of the building were specifically chosen being these colours are commonly found in urban art. These colours are lighter in the foreground and darker in the background to show depth. I decided to not use this idea as the label overall was too busy and drew your attention away from the logo which is the most important part. I settled on the idea of having a real image in the background of the label instead of solid shapes. I specifically decided on a brick wall as this still represented the city as you would usually find a brick wall on a building. I changed the hue of t

Ocado Live Brief: Submitting Concept & Storyboard

Image
Anja and I worked together after class to add adjustments to our storyboard. We decided that adding an additional frame at the start of our motion graphic will give the viewer context, this will include Ocado's logo and slogan, "The world's foods at your fingertips". We also added arrows and text to explain our transitions in each frame. This also gave us a chance to make sure that the Ocado logo was shown throughout the motion graphic as stated on the brief. We added more text to the call to action including the offers that Ocado wanted us to include in the final frame. Once we had finished making adjustments to our storyboard, we wrote up our concept and submitted this as a PDF to Julian.
