Independent CV Research: 50 inspiring resume designs: And what you can learn from them

Image
There was a lot of helpful design tips in this article. I liked Micheal Long's CV because it's minimalistic but effective at showing key information. I also like the idea of adding a sidebar as this will automatically draw your eye to the most important parts of the CV. I also really liked Milena Filipova's CV. The accented colours are really bold, and the CV itself gives off a very clean/fresh look. I also really love the layout! Business Cards: Near-Field Communication Research

Image
As there is the upcoming Workfest networking event, I was thinking about how I can make myself stand out. While searching through my LinkedIn feed, a video caught my eye about digital business cards using Near-field Communication. This is such a cool concept and project and I definitely want to give it a try! Therefore I searched for Loann Boudin and realised he had an instructables page. After looking through Loann's page, I found that he had liked an instructable from 2 years ago about Digital Business Cards using NFC. Company Research: Ogilvy

Image
Founded by Edmund Mather & David Ogilvy I wasn't sure what Ogilvy did at first but after this company researching further I discovered that they are an advertising agency. "Ogilvy is a New York City-based British advertising, marketing and public relations agency. It started as a London advertising agency founded in 1850 by Edmund Mather, which in 1964 became known as Ogilvy & Mather after merging with a New York City agency that was founded in 1948 by David Ogilvy. It is part of the WPP Group, which is by revenue one of the largest marketing and communications companies in the world. The agency is known for its work with Dove, American Express, and IBM." (Wikipedia, 2018) I really like the 'Type with Pride' project that Ogilvy advertised. It was a really nice gesture for Gilbert Baker (The creator of the LGBTQ rainbow flag) to name the font after him after he passed away in 2017. I found it interesting that this is the first font that c...

Independent CV Research: 10 Amazing Designer Resumes that Passed Google’s Bar

Image
I was researching into different CV's and looked through an article named, " 10 Amazing Designer Resumes that Passed Google’s Bar " this article was interesting as the resumes in this article weren't really fancy however they looked nice visually. I specifically liked Rachel Schmitz's resume, the lines caught my eye and the turquoise bar really adds to the aesthetics of the CV. I already have a CV however I am considering moving this CV over from Microsoft Word to Indesign, so that I can be even more creative and not be restricted by Word. Portfolio Site: Portfolio Site Design & Basic Content Decisions

Image
Julian spoke about these types of website design during our mobile & web application design lecture. I am interested in making a website that can be shown on mobile and web instead of making an mobile app - as this may be more difficult for employers to access compared to a website. Therefore my aim is to make a mobile responsive website that is single scrolling and has parallax features. If I can incorporate P5.JS or three.JS this would be great! We discussed site hierarchies and what was the most important aspects of a portfolio site. Although I believe that the content is the most important, a landing page usually comes first when building a website. Therefore I have decided that my hierarchy will be as follows: 1. Landing Page/Portfolio (Depending on design) 2. About 3. Portfolio 4. Contact (Blog, contact information, social media etc.)

Portfolio Site: Pinterest Mood Board & Colour Palette

Image
Pinterest Mood Boards I have collected some ideas from my Pinterest mood boards and have incorporated some of these design ideas into my own website design. I have decided that I would like to use this colour palette as I have already used some of these colours on my CV and therefore I would like to keep this consistent with my website.

ACE Creative Technologist Job Description

I would like to apply for the Creative Technologist Job at the assessment centre. On Monday 8th, Jo came to speak to us to go through this brief and how to tailor our CV's/Application forms to the job description. I circled and underlined keywords and made notes as to what the employer is looking for from the job description. I have completed the pre-event survey, listed in the careers materials.
